Different braking forces: From the perspective of braking force, the braking force of the drum is much greater than that of the disc. Not because drum brake technology is more advanced, but because of its inherent structural characteristics. The drum brake system has a metal object that looks like a drum, which is a key component of the drum brake, and the drum brake is also named after it.
Different motivation: Drum brakes are located in enclosed spaces, so their motivation is not very good. During the braking process, a lot of heat can be collected, and the brake shoes and drums are prone to disorderly deformation under the influence of high temperature, which can simply cause braking appendicitis and shaking, thereby reducing braking power.
The drainage function is different: the drainage is better than the disc brake. When water enters the braking system, the impact on the braking function is significant. If this water cannot be discharged in a timely manner, the braking function will be greatly reduced. It can be seen from the structure that the seal design of drum brake is not as helpful for drainage as that of disc brake.
Different structure: the disc brake is small and simple in structure, but the drum brake is relatively complex in structure, but the diameter of the drum brake is much smaller than that of the disc brake when the same braking force is obtained.
The cooling effect varies. As the brake shoes of the disc brake are exposed, the cooling effect is better and the braking performance is more stable. The drum brake is in the brake drum, which is not easy to dissipate heat. Therefore, after a long time of braking, the braking force will decrease with the increase of heat.
